Our hair is a major part of our physical features.
Men do all sorts with and to their hair these days, from cutting it in all sorts of stylish forms, dying their hair, shaving it off totally, hair weaving to having short locks to dreadlocks and afros.
Women and ladies style their hair in all sorts of beautiful ways, from using weave on, to wigs, to curls, keeping their natural hair, maintaining long hair or a short bob.
The hair market is saturated with all sorts of products for hair care and treatment.
"Looking good is good" business they say.
Looking good is big business.
The hair industry is a big industry globally.
The hair industry ecosystem globally is worth over $320 billion dollars.
We live in a world where there is an appreciation for presentation, branding and identity.
People like to be unique, and they look for different ways to stand out, what they do with their hair is a major way. to achieve that uniqueness in their own estimation.
Samson is a character whose hair is specifically spoken about in scriptures.
What he did with his hair is mentioned in the scriptures.
He weaved his hair into seven locks or braids.
I can imagine Samson being a very stylish man if he lived in these contemporary times.
His hair must have been long and healthy, perhaps beautiful and he took good care of it.
But Samson's hair was not kept long, and braided into seven locks for vanity.
His hair represents his covenant with God.
There was a connection between his hair and his supernatural might!
Absalom is another guy whose hair is specifically mentioned in the scriptures.
The Bible records Absalom had thick and very heavy hair he weighed on the scales twice a year.
The Bible also talks about the good looks of Absalom, his spotless skin and his hair added to his uniqueness.
There is a difference between Samson and Absalom.
One kept, grew and braided his hair for covenant reasons while the other grew his hair for vain reasons.
Why do you do what you do?
What is the motivation for what you do?
Is it because everyone else is doing it or is it for covenant reasons?
Do you take steps because everyone else is taking similar steps or are you taking yours based on divine direction?
Are you a person of vanity or are you a person of covenant?
Samson was a man of covenant, today his story and exploits are mentioned among the heroes of faith.
Absalom was a man of vanity, today his name and story is associated with rebellion and betrayal.
How will you be remembered?
Samson had his flaws as a man, Absalom also had his flaws as a man.
Samson had a weakness for women, while Absalom was impatient and over ambitious.
Samson used his supernatural might, Absalom used his charisma.
Samson had his eyes plucked out, Absalom hung by his hair.
While grinding at the threshing floor of his enemies the Philistines, Samson had the opportunity to think over his mistakes and repent before God.
Absalom never got a chance for repentance when his hair was stuck in the branch of an oak tree.
Samson repented at the last minute and performed one final great exploit which fulfilled his life's assignment.
Absalom was defeated and his counsel and that of his counselor failed.
Samson chose the right opponent/enemies, the Philistines.
Absalom chose the wrong opponent, his father. he chose to make an enemy of his own biological father who loved him.
Samson was equipped to defeat his enemies, Absalom was not.
Samson always prevailed against his enemies and prevailed totally against them at death, Absalom on the other hand could not prevail against his father because his father was the Lord's anointed, a chosen one and the light of Israel.
Samson made it, Absalom failed.
God remembered Samson, heaven and earth rejected Absalom.
As a result of his hair, Samson prevailed.
As a result of his hair Absalom was entangled.
Samson's hair grew again after it was cut by his enemies, Absalom's hair was stuck in the branch of the oak tree until his death.
Your hair represents your glory in the spiritual realm.
Your hair is supposed to grow spiritually not get stuck.
Each hair strand contains our DNA.
Your hair is a part of you.
Our head is the main part of our frame where most of our hair grows.
May our heads and our hair not malfunction.
Samson's hair being weaved into seven locks represents the seven spirits of God, even the seven dimensions of the Holy Spirit.
