Elijah the prophet needed to be free from the threat, harassment and intimidation of Jezebel the evil queen so he ran away from Samaria.
Jezebel had declared him wanted so he fled for safety.
There is a time to run, it's not all the time we have to fight; that doesn't make us weaklings.Thank God Elijah knew this.
Elijah fled so as to see another day, he fled to fight another day, he fled for some moments of peace, he fled to enjoy some freedom.
He was human after all.
When Jezebel issued his death warrant, his humanity kicked in, and he ran away just like many of us would have done.
This is the great prophet Elijah who closed the windows of heaven over a nation, who called fire down from heaven on his sacrifice, who destroyed the king Ahab's men with fire, slaughtered the false prophets of Baal, and ended the famine in Samaria after travailing in prayer.
His prayers and spiritual authority influenced nature and the cosmos! But fear crept in when the authorities wanted him dead or alive.
God sustained him after he fled by providing him water from the brook Cherith for drink, ravens bringing him bread and meat twice a day for food, and eventually accommodation and provision through the widow of Zarephath.
God takes care of His own, may God take care of you!
Satan was the one who scared Elijah & wanted him dead, Jezebel was just his mouthpiece.
It goes to show us, no matter the genuineness of your calling, how anointed, prayerful, tough, and powerful you may be, the enemy can and will come against you still.
It goes to show us, no matter the genuineness of your calling, how anointed, prayerful, tough, and powerful you may be, the enemy can and will come against you still.
As long as you are effective and doing the Lord's will and work he will try to stop you or try to break your momentum.
The Apostle Paul mentions Satan resisting him and his team about thrice in the scriptures.
He will try anyone.
If he was courageous enough to defy God in heaven he will try his wiles on anyone here on earth. He tried his schemes on Jesus too.

The irony of the Elijah and Jezebel scenario is that Jezebel who wanted Elijah dead, died herself.
Elijah who she wanted dead, didn't experience death.
Jezebel was thrown down the palace balcony, her blood spilled, and wild dogs ate her body.
Elijah on the other hand rode in grant style to heaven in chariots of fire, never experiencing death.

What Jezebel wanted for Elijah befell her,
God set His prophet free from her clutches.
God set His prophet free from her clutches.
May God our Father set you free from every evil, even every Jezebel spirit.
In Jesus name!
Amen!
