The Thrill Of Freedom
We can all probably remember moments from our childhood season, days when we got excited about being free to do certain things we wanted to do when we were children.
It doesn't take as much to make children happy as it does to get adults excited.
Simple things can get children thrilled, it could be things as easy as their parents granting them permission to go and play outdoors with their friends, buying them a toy they've always wanted or getting them a treat/snack.
It seems children get thrilled about life more easily and much faster than adults do.
It would also seem the older we get the harder it is to get to those levels of thrill we used to feel as children. That's one of the many wonderful qualities children have- a zest for life!
It's no far fetched why the good Book enlightens us that we must be like little children to enter the kingdom of heaven.
Children are wonderful creations of God.
They can be hilarious, they give us a sense of purpose as parents, they give us something to look forward to and they continue our lineage after we are gone.
We adults have to do better with regards to catching up on the thrills and joy of life, in a positive sense.
Freedom brings a thrill and excitement.
For adults our hobbies are some of the things that bring us happiness and pleasure.
Bikers have a fascination with motorcycling.
Motorcycling is a sport that can be addictive, ask those who are into it!
There's a thrill and joy it brings to the rider, and a great feel of freedom.
The movement and maneuvering of the bike, the speed, the sights, the sounds, the sense of risk and a huge thrill of the wind blowing against the riders face are reasons motorcyclists enjoy the sport.
Not to mention the admiration you get for having a nice set of wheels, a beautiful bike!
The excitement children display when they are in their heightened state of joy can be likened to the thrill bikers feel when riding their motorcycles.
That is the feel and thrill of freedom.
That is what it means to be free after being bound so long, limited so long, caged so long, and denied for so long.
In Galatians 5 verse 1 we are told Jesus set us free and we should not be entangled again with yokes of bondage.
The excitement children feel when they get what they have longed for is unhindered, they let it out, even if it's for the simplest or most basic of things.
It is similar to how bikers feel on a good day as they ride their bikes on a clear highway or road, when the weather is great.
These examples can also be compared to how we feel when we give our lives to the Lord.
The knowledge that we are free, that we are not weighted down by sin any longer, that we have been granted a clean slate, and our past and mistakes is not held against us is very liberating!
Many testify to feeling lighter, happier, and relieved after giving their lives to Jesus Christ.
It can be a very exhilarating and exciting feeling and experience.
Such is the thrill of freedom!
That's how God would have us feel and live regularly-with a zest and an excitement for life.
I hope and pray you capture it if you have lost it.
Jesus Christ sets free.
