There is something about the nature of man (animals and spirits too) that is territorial, defensive and protective of what he owns or what he perceives or believes to be his own. This innate inclination brings about a revolt, a fight and some form of self defense.
It's a known fact that the World we live in is a tough place. It's no secret that we don't live in a perfect world and life is not always fair. More often than not, we 'fight' to keep what is ours and in some situations we have to fight to get what we want.
History proves to us that warfare is not new to humanity. A wise man once said "life is not funfare but warfare" he is right. Kingdoms were built and maintained through warfare, the rise of the Roman Empire and the the Persian empire attests to this. History records the exploits of war veterans like Hannibal, King Cyrus, King David, Gideon and Alexander the great, who took territories, gained prominence and established Kindoms through warfare. And for the more spiritually inclined individuals like myself, we know that the principles and happenings of the physical realm is more often than not a reflection of the spiritual realm. The good book attests to this truth. "The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork" So there are things nature is telling us, there are counsels nature is giving us, do we understand them, can we hear them? Warfare is one of the things history, experience, life and nature teaches us. There is no created animal or being that has not been given an inner mechanism or awareness for it's protection and some physical feature to defend itself from harm or predators. We all have and carry a survival instinct.
In a world full of mediocrity we have to 'fight' for excellence, we 'fight' to carve a niche, we strive to discover our purpose and we 'fight' to defend our loved ones and keep what is rightfully ours. In the animal Kingdom, animals fight for mates, they fight for food, they fight to stay alive and they fight to defend their young ones and territories.
Angels fight to protect the saints, demons fight to mess up God's plan, and our flesh wages war against our spirit. Spiritual people fight to keep the good fight of faith.
These observations have made me draw the conclusion that there is a necessity for warfare in life. Are you aware of this, are you fighting skilfully and do you know the weapons at your disposal?
