WHERE IS SUCCESS FOUND?

Don't  look  elsewhere  for  success  when  success  can  be  found  in  your  own  backyard. All  you  will  need  and  all  you  can  ever  be,  can  be  found  in  the  innermost  recesses  of  your  being.
Many  people  look  for  success  in  other  people  and  places  instead  of  looking  to  the  uniqueness  within  them, they  look  outward  instead  of  looking  inward  and  search  for  love  and  happiness  in  all  the  wrong  places.
In  the  story "Acres  of  Diamonds"  by  Russell Conwell, the  story  of  a  man  is  told  who  is  searching  for  success  but  he  didn't  know  that  the  success  he  was  searching  for  in  the  form  of  diamonds  was  right  on  his  personal  property! He  travelled  all  over  the  world  searching  for  diamonds,  after  selling  his  property , after  many  years  of  travels  and  not  finding  diamonds, frustrated  he  killed  himself. The  man  he  sold  his  property  to  one  day  saw  a  rock  on  the  property  and  he  tested  it, the  rock  was  right  behind  the  house. To  his  surprise  it  was  a  diamond, he  became  rich  overnight!  It's  a  situation  of  tragedy  for  one  man  and  financial  fortune  for  another. Many  of  us  are  like  that  first  man  who  sold  his  property  , instead  of  searching deep  within  ourselves  to  find out  what  we  have  within  us  and  develop  them  we  despise  what  we  have  and  place  value  on  other  people. For many "the  grass  is  always  greener  on  the  other  side".
There  are  treasures  in  each  of  us,  they  are  called  talents  and  gifts. Your  talents  and  your  gifts  are  the  keys  to  your  greatness. They  are  "what  you  have  in  your  hand"  and  you  must  use  it. If you  do  not  use  your  talents  and  gifts  then  you  are  selfish, your  talents  and  gifts  are  not  just  for  you  but  they  are  for  humanity  and  they  have  the  tremendous  ability  to  make  you  wealthy.
There  is  a  need  to  carry  out  self  appraisals  on  ourselves  regularly, we  all  have  abilities  within  us  that  will  benefit  humanity  and  make  us  rich.
Develop  your  gifts  and  talents,  after  discovering  them,  the  world  is  waiting  for  you.

LET'S KEEP THE CALLIGRAPHY PROFESSION GOING.

I'm  working  hard  and  praying  hard, hoping  to  launch  my calligraphy  studio  this  year. I  have  written  a  previous  article  on  this  blog  about  calligraphy, calligraphy  is  a  field  of  art  and  design  I  have  a  passion  for, it's  a  subject  I  never  get  tired  of  looking  into  and  I dont  get  tired  to  practice  it; for  me  it's  a  calling  of  some  sort.
The  pictures  above  are  pictures  of  me,  doing  my  thing  on  my A3 drawing  board. It's  11:30am  and  I  am  having  a  mug  of  tea.
There  is  nothing  like  doing  what  you  enjoy  doing  for  a  living.
I enjoy  authoring  books, looking  into  innovations  and  design  and  ofcourse calligraphy.
I  have  authored  two  books  this  year already  and  I  hope  to  open  my  own  studio  for  calligraphy, I  am  keeping  my  fingers  crossed  and  hoping  for  the  best.

THE EAGLE WHO THOUGHT HE WAS A CHICKEN.

'The  eagle  who  thought  he  was  a  chicken'  is  an  interesting  short story  I  enjoy  very  much though its tragic.

I'm  not  the  original  writer  I  thought  to  share. 

 Here  it  goes:
Once  upon  a  time, there  was  a  large  mountainside where an eagle's nest contained  four  large  eagle   eggs. 

One  day  an  earthquake  rocked  the  mountain  causing  one  of  the  eggs  to  roll  down  the  mountain,  to  a  chicken  farm, located  in  the  valley  below. 

The  chickens  knew  that  they  had   to  protect  and  care  for  the  eagle's  egg, so  they  nurtured  and  raised  the  large  egg.

One  day,  the  egg  hatched  and  a  beautiful  eagle  was  born.
However,  the  eagle  was  raised  to  be  a  chicken. 

Soon,  the  eagle  believed  he  was  nothing  more  than  a  chicken. 

The  eagle  loved  his  home  and  family,  but  his  spirit  cried  out  for  more.

While  on  the  farm  one  day, the  eagle  looked  to  the  skies  above  and  noticed  a number  of  mighty  eagles  soaring  in  the  skies. 

"Oh," the  eagle  cried. "I  wish  I  could  soar  like  those  birds."

 The  chickens  roared  with  laughter, "You  cannot  soar  with  those  birds. You  are  a  chicken  and  chickens  do  not  soar"

The  eagle  continued  staring, at  the  eagles  above, day dreaming  that  he  could  be  with  them.
Each  time  the  eagle  would  let  his  dreams  be  known, he  was  told  it  was  impossible.
That  is  what  the  eagle  learned  to  believe. 

The  eagle, eventually, stopped  dreaming  and  continued  to  live  his  life  like  a  chicken. Finally, after  a   long  life  as a  chicken,  the  eagle  died.

The  moral  of  the  story: 

You  become  what  you  believe  you  are; so  if  you  ever  dream  to  become  an  eagle, follow  your  dreams,  not  the  words  of  a  chicken.

WHEN GOLIATHS FALL.

The  story  of  David  and  Goliath  is  not  just  a  Biblical  inspiration  but  a  historical  classic. It's  a  true  story,  a  very  generational  achievement. It's  a  sample  to  us  of  what  we  can  achieve  if  we  fight  back!

It's  one  of  those  rare  stories  that  fascinate  us  all. Perhaps  it's  because  David  was  a  hero, and  there  is  just  something  about  the  human  nature  that  is  fascinated  by  heroes. I  like  heroes. From  Bliblical  heroes,  to  heroes  in  the  Koran, political  heroes  to  comic  book  and  movie  heros. Some  people  find  the  story  of  David  and  Goliath  remarkable  because  David  was  young  when  he  killed  Goliath (he  was  a  teenager) there  is  something  inspirational  about  seeing  young  achievers. Others  see  the David  and  Goliath  story  as  a  reference  point  of  God's amazing  power.

We shouldn't, and  do  not  fight  battles  for  nothing, after  every  battle  there  is  a  reward. Like  the  hero  always  does  in  movies  David  was  compensated  with the  beautiful  girl  as  a  reward (the  princess, King  Sauls  daughter).

In  our  day  and  age  we  have  our  own  Goliaths  to  fight. Our  type  of  fight  has  changed,  it's  not  the  physical  type  of  fight  that  Bible  heros  in  the  old  testament  are accustomed  to. Ours  are more  of  mental  and  spiritual  battles.

There  are  Goliaths  all around  us,  they  come  in  the  form  of  fear, frustrations, peoples opinion  of  you, economic  recession, financial  instability,  marital  challenges, health  setbacks, career  difficulties, secret  enemies, academic  setbacks, global  warming, stagnancy, national  calamities, moral decadence  and  its  attractions  etc.The  bigger  the  challenge  for  an  individual  or  a  nation,  the  greater  the  glory  ahead. Challenges  have  been arranged  to  announce  us  not  defeat  us. David  would  have  remained  a  shepherd  boy  all  his  life  if  he  didn't  face  Goliath,  it  was  his  defeat  of  Goliath  that  turned  him  into  a  national  hero! If  we  want  to  come into  prominence  and  the  next  level  we  must  be  courageous  enough  to  face  our  Goliaths.

Success,  a  prominent  name, favour  and  respect  are  some  of  the  rewards  we  get  when  our  Goliaths  fall.

WHAT IS REAL MANHOOD?

Different  people, cultures, and traditions  have  their  differing views  about  manhood. There  are  many  stories,  myths and  legends  about  bravery  and  chivalry  which  is  associated  with  manhood. I  guess the  impression  of  what  true  manhood  is  left  to  the  individual  to  determine.

Is  a  real  man  supposed  to  be  a  super  hero  with  certain  gifts  and  powers or  is  a  real  man  the  one  who  is  courteous  towards  the opposite  sex  and  useful  to  society. Is  real  manhood  associated  with  good  looks  or  are  looks  less  important  when  it  comes  to  manhood?

What  is  more  important  when  it  comes  to  manhood? Gifts  and  talents  or  character  and  consistency,  being  married  or  being  useful  to  your  immediate  environment? Is  real  manhood  associated  with  fame  or  is  it  about  having  a  good  intellect? Is  a  real  man  the  one  who  prides  himself  in  his  sexual  prowess  and  how  many  women  he  has  'conquered'  or  is  real  manhood  in  our  ability  to  abstain  and  endure  till we  meet  with  the  right  lady. Is  a  real  man  the  one  who  has  a  relationship  with  God  or  can  an  atheist  be  considered  a  real  man?

What  makes  a  real  man, is  real  manhood  about  our  earning  potential  or  is  it  about  the  values  we  hold  dear  to  our  hearts,  is  it  about  our  priorities  or  is  it  about  our  achievements,  is  manhood  about  our  character  or  is  it  about  our  sex  appeal? Is  a  real  man  the  one  who  has  achieved  more  than  his  peers  and  is  seen  as  an  alpha  male  or  is  real  manhood  in  our  humility  and  meekness. Is  the  well  dressed  and  groomed  man  the  real  man  or  are  those  less  important  when  it  comes  to  manhood. Should  a  real  man  be  sensitive  and  considerate  or  is  that  the  traits  of  the  feminine  gender. Should  real  men  cook  and  help  out  in  the  kitchen,  should  they  tidy  the  house  and  do  the  laundry  or  should  that  be  left  to  their  partners  if  they  have  any. Is  manhood  in  our  domineering  disposition  or  is  a  real  man  the  one  who  is  cheerful  and  optimistic  with  an  open  heart?

Is  the  technologically  savvy  'brother'  who  is  'moving'  with  the  times  the  real  man  or  is  that  less important  when  it  comes  to  being  masculine?

What  is  the  place  of  men  in  this  day  and  age?

We  are  not  in  ancient  times  when  its  believed  real  men  are  knights  or  princes  of  some  sort  who  saves  the  damsel  in  distress. We  don't  have  any  fire  emitting  dragons  to  fight  in  our  timeand  we  are  not  in   an  era  of  swords  and  shields  when  men  would  travel  on  distant  voyages  to  conquer  lands, expand  our  kingdom  and  bring  home  spoils  of  war. So  what  really  is  the  place  of  the  21st  century  man? In  this  day  and  age  women  are  as  liberated  and  independent  as  men  are. We  have  women  who  work  in   almost  every  field  of  human  endeavour  that  men  work  in. Women  have  become  bread  winners  just  as  men  are, many  are  single  parents who  do  a  good  job  raising  their  children  alone  because of  absent  fathers. What  separates  a  man  from  a  woman  in  our  time? Is  a  real  man  the  macho  looking  body  builder,  the  action  heroes  we  watch  on  tv,  is  real  manhood  about  politics,  intellectualism  or  is  it  about  being  a  'pretty'  boy,  is  it  about  being  a  sex  symbol  or  pin  up  figure  in  the  bedroom  of  females? What  can  make  us  real  men, could  it  be  our  hair  do? Keeping  an  afro  or  shoulder length  hair. Are  the  'lean  mean  killing  machines'  or  cow  boys  in  western  movies  our  standard  for  manhood  or  is  it  the  voo doo  priest  visting  'brother'. Is  manhood  in  our  ability  to  drink  or  smoke, or  is  it  in  our  ability  to  keep  our  females  entertained? Is  manhood  proportional  to  the  kind  of  gifts  we  can  present  or  is  it  about  our  education? Is  the  21st  century  man  supposed  to  be  a  mere  sperm  donor, a  responsible  father  or  are  we  a  'specie'  that  has  lost  it  place? Boy  do  i  need  some

 answers!

UNDERSTANDING MODERN DAY PARABLES.

I  believe speaking  in  parables is  part of  God's style, for " it  is the glory of  God  to conceal  a  matter  but  it  is  to the  glory  of  a  King  to unveil  it".  Our  'Kingship' is  in  our  ability  to  accurately  understand  and  interpret  modern  day  parables. And  we  have  what  it  takes  because  we  are   God's  children,  "we  have  been  made  Kings  and  priests  through  Christ". Understanding  the  mysteries  of  God  hidden  in  life  and  God's communication  have  been  given  to  His  children. I  have an  understanding  God  still speaks  to us  in parables  today "for  God is  the  same yesterday, today  and  forever", if  he spoke to  people as Jesus through  parables in times past, and if  God doesn't change  then  it  means He still  speaks to us  in parables today. But many people do not understand  and  accurately  interpret  the  parables  that  come to  them  in  modern  times, there is a  need for modern day interpreters, but  more  importantly, it  is credible for a man to understand  and    interpret  the  parables  being  communicated  to  Him.

 In Bible times, "interpreters" were rare people, they were seen as 'magicians' of some sort with gifted abilities to understand mysteries and interpret dreams that others could not. Men of calibre like Joseph and Daniel  rose to the heights they did largely because of their gifts of accurately  interpreting what others couldn't. Interpreters  are  equally  needed  today  because  God  is  speaking  but  many  are  not  understanding  the parables.

What  is  a  parable  and  why  parables? Parables  are  fictional  stories  that  contain moral  or  spiritual lessons. God  speaks  to  us  in  parables  to  make  us  search  for  Him  and  also  to  help  us  put  the  Spirit  within  us  to  work, trying  to  figure  out  a  parable  sharpens  our  intellect  and  develops  us  spiritually. When  parables  are  figured  out  there  is  a  reward  and  a  honour  that  comes  with  it.

How  are  modern  day  parables  communicated  to  us  in  our  time? I  believe God's parables  are seen  in  our  dreams  and  circumstances. People  need  to  be  sensitive  to  the  hidden  messages  in  their  circumstances  and dreams. Dreams  should  not  be  taken  for  granted, though  dreams  are  not  the  most  accurate  way  God  speaks  to  us  in  our  times. The  most  accurate  way  of  knowing Gods  will and ways  is  through  the  Bible. But  God  still speaks  to  us  through   dreams  because  He  hasn't  changed. But  not  all dreams  are  from  God, for  example, nightmares  are  not  from  God  because  they  cause  fear "God  has  not  given  us  a spirit  of  fear  but  of  power, love  and  a sound  mind"

Job 33:15  proves  to  us  God  speaks  through  dreams. When  we  have  dreams  that  are  from  God  their  interpretation  is  either  literal  or are  in  the  form  of  a  parable (it contains symbols  and  representations)

We need God's Spirit  to accurately  understand  these  night  parables, for God's Spirit is the true interpreter. we are just  receipients of  what  Gods Spirit  is saying. God's  Spirit  also  help  us  to  perceive  the  hidden  messages  in  our  circumstancial  parables  and  understand  them. God's Spirit  helps  us  to  connect  the  dots  in  the  hidden  messages  of  circumstancial  parables.

To  accurately  interpret  dreams  or  night  parables  we  need  to  have  a  good  understanding  of  God's  Word. God's Spirit and His Word work together, and there are stories, insights and applicable  wisdom  within  the Word  of  God  thats  needed  for  the  parable  of  our  lives.

Dreams can  also  have  literal  interpretations (like the  dream Jacob  had  that  gave  him  a  strategy  to  rise  above  His  uncle  Laban  in  business). Dreams  with  literal  interpretations  in  my  view  are  not  as  common  as  dreams  thats  are  parables  in  their  nature.

THE DANGER OF THE BLACK SUPREMACY THEOLOGY AND IT'S MISSING LINK.

As  far  as  skin  colour  is  concerned,  humanity  is  divided  into  black  and  white, the  man  of  colour  and  the  caucasian. All people  on  the  face  of  the  earth  fall into  one  of  these  categories ( it's not  that  the  skin  colour  of  an  individual matters  to  me) i take all men as God's creation and should therefore be respected. Any one (black or white) can be my brother or my sister, but its rather unfortunate there are many who do not share this view. I have often wondered why humanity  has to be so divisive. Is this how the creator created us or did something go wrong  with  humanity  along  the  way?
Lately  i  have  seen  and  heard  people  share  all  kinds  of  divisive  and  discriminatory  teachings  that  doesn't  promote  peace  for  humanity  in  anyway. I am fully  persuaded  that  when  man kind  was  created  it  was  in  the  will  of  God  that  all  men  should  live  in  peace  irrespective  of  their  skin  colour. THE  BLACK  MAN IS  NOT  MORE  IMPORTANT  OR  SUPERIOR  THAN  THE  WHITE  MAN NEITHER  IS  THE  WHITE  MAN  MORE  IMPORTANT  OR  SUPERIOR  THAN THE  BLACK MAN  for God is no respecter of  persons and  all  men  are created  equal.
Black supremacy teachings will only cause controversy and won't  totally  better the lot of  the man of  colour. In  it's  deception  it's  even  being  applied  to  our  faith! There  are  arguments  and  difference  in  opinion  about  whether  Jesus  is  a  black  man  or  not. Jesus  was  a  Jew. Whatever  category  you  classify  a  Jew  into  is  what  Jesus  was. If  a  Jew  is  a  black  person  to  you  then  Jesus  was  black  when   He  was  on  the  earth, if  you  categorize  a  Jew  as  a  caucasian  person  then  thats  what  Jesus  was  when  he  was  on  earth  in  the  flesh. Whether  Jesus  was  black  or  white  is  not  what  is  important, what  is  important  is  that  men  of  any colour  should  have  love  and  mutual  respect  for  one  another. Many of  these black  supremacy  teachings are  interesting  and  insightful  but  they  aren't  well  balanced  or  thought  out, it  emphasises  empowering  the  black  man or  black  community  (which  is  not  a  bad  idea  in  itself)  but  the  issue  is  which  kind  of  empowerment  are  we  refering  to  and how  do  we  go  about  it? THE  ONLY  TRUE  EMPOWERMENT  THERE  IS, IS  THE EMPOWERMENT  FROM  GOD'S  SPIRIT. Every other  type of  empowerment  is a  mirage, a distortion  and  an  illusion. Emphasising God's Spirit among the black community is the missing link in the black supremacy theology, and with the Spirit comes a wisdom that  is  the opposite of the kind commonly found in this world which comes with pride and eventually causes division. Black supremacy teachings in my opinion has only caused division.
 Just like the keys of the piano that are black and white which work together to produce  melodious sounds God  has created caucasian  and  black coloured people  to  live  and  work  together  in  unity  for  the  betterment of  the world  and  mankind. It's  when  we can  live  together  as one, it's  when  we  can  live together  in  unity  irrespective  of  the  colour  of  our  skin  or  some  difference  in  lifestyle  that  it  can  be  said  that  humanity  is  producing  the  right  'sound'  to  God's glory.
